Writing the Reef was a workshop for young writers, led by Tanaka Mhishi, who is himself a young writer, poet and playwright. Here he describes the event:
“Writing the Reef challenged young writers to respond creatively to Simon Faithfull’s Reef in a variety of forms. Participants practiced both flash fiction and poetry, generating narratives out of the atmosphere of the exhibit and learning how to channel their creative impulses into a number of vivid, evocative pieces.”
The dark gallery space was a bit of a challenge, but we provided torches and the experience was certainly immersive!
